Dr. Liliana ȚUROIU is currently an associate professor at the National University of Arts in Bucharest, with a career of over 20 years in the field of visual art and artistic education. In 2017, she became the first woman president of the Romanian Cultural Institute. During this mandate, she was responsible with the strategy, coordination and implementation of some of the most important cultural diplomacy projects Romania has abroad in the recent period, including the International Arts Festival Europalia Romania 2019-2020, the RCI cultural events included in the France-Romania Season 2018-2019, as well as a series of large-scale cultural projects dedicated to the Centenary of Romania on three continents, in 2018. She is a member of ENCATC, the Brussels University Foundation, CIF London - the International Council and also member in the Scientific Council of Sapienza Foundation. Before becoming a voice in the field of cultural diplomacy, Liliana Țuroiu was known as a successful entrepreneur and fashion designer focused on cross-border cultural dialogue and the research of different European traditions and crafts. Professor Liliana Țuroiu was nominated, in 2019, as Romanian General Coordinator for the EUROPALIA Romania Arts Festival and its exhibition dedicated to Constantin Brâncuși, hosted by BOZAR. She is a strong believer in the key role played by cultural diplomacy and the creative industries in the international community. Dr. Liliana Țuroiu gave keynote speeches at the NATO International Conference held at Egmont Palace, in February 2020, at the Annual Meeting of Romanian Diplomacy (RADR) in 2017 and 2018, at the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy in Berlin, in 2018, and in many other academic events from different countries, focusing especially on the relationship between the contemporary art and diplomacy. She was decorated, in 2019, as Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government.
