Josh Austin
Josh Austin is a PhD student at the University of Kentucky in its inaugural arts administration doctoral program. In addition to his presentation here at ENCATC, his research intends to develop organizational-based indicators of resilience for cultural institutions—holistically rooting resilience into the foundational structures and values guiding an organization. Josh received his masters in arts administration from the University of Kentucky and holds a masters degree in arts journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. He serves as the Communications Director for United Scenic Artists, a labor union that advances the conditions of artistic workers and fosters meaningful collaboration and sustainable practices across cultural industries. Cultivated from his professional experience and ongoing academic goals, Josh believes that broad partnerships, collective creativity, and inclusivity of knowledge can transform the global cultural sector to embrace and adopt resilience as a shared, community-based process and outcome.
