Since 1992, ENCATC has organised an annual gathering for its members, stakeholders and followers. The ENCATC Congress aims to explore ground-breaking innovations in cultural management and policy education and encourage steps to ensure significant improvements in this industry.
The 2020 ENCATC Digital Congress format held from 3-11 November was built on: The Plenary Session which include keynote speeches, panels, debates, and the Global Conversation; the Education and Research Session; the ENCATC Research Boot Camp; the ENCATC Research Award Ceremony; and the Exhibition Space.
Reacting to these COVID-19 times, ENCATC is investing in the latest digital event technology software to ensure this year’s Congress remains the leading annual gathering for the advancement of theory, education, research and practice on cultural management and policy.
From 3-11 November, participants went beyond common webinar technologies like Zoom and instead enjoyed an immersive and personalised online experience on our digital platform that bridged them directly to the latest innovative ideas and leading expertise from around the globe, explored virtual spaces to connect with prominent stakeholders, benefited from the latest networking technology to connect with participants, and so much more!

Due to the COVID-19 context, in 2020 ENCATC decided to invest in an enhanced digital event technology and thus to immerse our members and audience in an exciting digital experience. By this choice, we wanted to avoid another zoom meeting and instead ensure that the annual ENCATC Congress remained the leading global event for our members and followers, the only global platform gathering educators, researchers, cultural professionals, policy makers, and artists able to advance theory, education, research and practice on cultural management and policy.
As this platform remains open for up to 6 months after the event, those who did not register to attend the live sessions from 3-11 November 2020, they can now register for post-event access to the platform’s video recordings and collected resources.
Moreover, as the measures COVID-19 pandemic made an enormous impact on ENCATC activities, the Congress is the only activity able to generate the necessary income we need to match the Creative Europe grants.
In the accomplishment of our Strategic plan 2017-2020 we are also committed to continue defining conditions allowing ENCATC to move towards sustainable organisation also through self-financing activities, and prove to our funders ENCATC’s commitment and ability to generate income.
